- Looks Nice, but Poor Quality
2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4dr SUV 4WD (3.6L 6cyl 8A)
The Jeep seemed great at first, but now at 800 miles the UConnect System is horrible. The screen often turns black or freezes. The GPS sometimes shows the Jeep several hundred miles from the actual location. The clock doesn't keep the correct time so we have to update the clock at least once a week. We have also started getting a red screen saying the phone needs service that flashes on the screen, but then disappears. If we knew what we know now, we would have never bought the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. We spent a lot of money on something that is now just a pain and already headed back to the dealership for service.

- Great car, poor quality
2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4dr SUV 4WD (3.6L 6cyl 8A)
Have had the car since April.
Have had it back to the dealer 2x for issues with the 8.4 Uconnect system which only worked on occasion.
After waiting 3 weeks for a new unit, I have had no problems.
Overall the car is great, seats are not very comfortable though.
As long as additional problems do not occur - I will be happy.
Favorite Features
LED running lights, large infotainment screen, comfortable ride, great style inside and out.
Suggested Improvements
Improve Quality, better apps for Uconnect, more comfortable seats.
- Why the Problems Chrysler???
2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4dr SUV 4WD (3.6L 6cyl 8A)
Just hit the 30 day mark of
ownership of my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd. 5.7 v8 and here's what
happened today:
Engine Light, ABS Light, Brake Light, Airbag Light, Traction Control
Light all suddenly came on!
In addition, backup camera not functioning properly, can't open lift
gate, and UConnect keeps cutting out completely! Took it to a Jeep
Dealership (not where I purchased from, but it shouldn't matter,
right!?) and their service shop was closed but they told me I could
"rent" a vehicle...ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME!!!
I am taking it to the service shop at 7:30 am tomorrow and by hell or
high water will be getting a loaner, at no cost, and will be having it
out with the service team.
- Nice to look at, Horrific to drive
2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4dr SUV 4WD (3.6L 6cyl 8A)
The car drove like a dream for the
first 500 miles.
I'm at 8,200 and every mile in between has been a nightmare.
The transmission slams up and down, causing a terribly uncomfortable
ride-and remember it has 8 gears so it is constantly changing gears.
In the morning, the transmission has become so rough I feel as though I
am being rear ended.
I have had it at two different dealerships to solve the issues and both
have told me it is normal-and if it something were actually wrong a
fault light would illuminate.
I was issued a case manager with jeep corporate.
She refused to return calls-I went three days calling her three times
before she picked up.
Favorite Features
4WD system is solid.
Pulls through sand like a gem.
Suggested Improvements
Sell it to someone you don't like and get a Ford Explorer or Volvo XC60.
- Problems already
2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4dr SUV 4WD (3.6L 6cyl 8A)
I have about 3500 miles on my new
Grand Cheorkee limited. My first problem started almost immediately, the
touch screen on the dash went out.
I had no air conditioning no radio no navigation system nothing at all.
When I took it in to the service department it suddenly started to
function and they said unless it fails when they can see it they can not
fix it., one day I was able to get it into the dealer when it had
failed and they did fix it but it took three weeks to get the part in.
My next problem is the transmission it shifts very bad between 1st and
2nd and from 2nd back into 1st.
The dealer calls it a Jeep characteristic. You feel a clunk when it
shifts and you hear the clunk.
Favorite Features
Even the techs from the Jeep 1-800 number state this is
normal.
It is hard to believe this because it is so noticeable. In this day and
age how can a major vehicle manufacture produce a product with this very
noticeable and irritating problem?
Other issues involves the opening of the doors, sometimes it takes 4 or 5
clicks to open the doors instead of one, same is true for the rear
hatch.
I have found the dealer just does not want to deal with these problems
and is always making excuses instead of fixing the problems.
Suggested Improvements
Even with these issues I do like the vehicle but I really
wish both the Jeep cooperation and the dealer would take more
responsibility in working out the problems instead of calling them Jeep
characteristics and ignoring the problems.
- doomed from day one
2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4dr SUV 4WD (3.6L 6cyl 8A)
I picked up my new jeep on july 12
and on the way home the screen for the u connect went out and it was 90
degrees so no ac , no radio, nothing. I should have known better than to
think that a Chrysler product was going to be a good move from my
Chevrolet which never gave me a minutes trouble. this means that in the
winter if this goes out you have no heat either and no manual way to
defrost . very disappointed at my decision . and the carpet is the
cheapest thing I have ever seen, and you cant clean it. it is at the
dealer for the second time in three days now for the same thing.
Big mistake, they didn't test these things at all
.
47 thousand dollars worth of trouble
- The Worst They're Made Of
2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4dr SUV 4WD (3.6L 6cyl 8A)
Well I had written a long review,
but it didn't post because of Edmunds glitch. In short, transmission not
smooth: jerks. Air suspension message error when not using it and not
hot outside. Uconnect issues. Key Fob liftgate problems. Remote Start
HVAC problems.
Leather seats and dash prematurely cracking. Uconnect a joke compared to
other systems: no convenience features such as Pandora, iheart radio,
etc. Voice dictation laggy. Yelp search is a joke.
Favorite Features
Off road utility: that's it.
Suggested Improvements
All of the above stated. Customer service on the phones at
the dealers are pathetic. I have had better service from a Hyundai and
Ford dealer. The service techs don't clean their hands and put greasy
smudges in the car. They blast your stereo settings to the max. They put
scratches in your car interior. When you complain they don't do
anything about it. The corporate customer service and higher ups are a
joke. They side skirt the issues or blame you. They don't accept
responsibility and use technicality of they have to "duplicate" to work
on the issue (even if you have pictures). Just pathetic! A joke that
this model is supposed to compare to Lexus RX.
- pdate after 3 weeks of ownership. Shame on Chrysler!
2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4dr SUV (3.6L 6cyl 8A)
Took delivery of my new 2014 Jeep
Grand Cherokee. Drove it less than a mile from dealer. Transmission
would not shift out of first, and radio would flip continuously. Faulty
steering column control sensor. Took 1.5 weeks for the repair.
Drove it for a week and the dash lit up like a Christmas tree. Dealer
said they could not duplicate the error. Searching forums, I found
others have this problem. Faulty ABS module. The dealer contacted
Chrysler at my insistence, who said the ABS module is bad. It is on
national B/O.
I have been a loyal Jeep customer for years. Just know you are beta
testing this vehicle. Never again!! Chrysler said they will not cover a
rental, to make matters worse.
Favorite Features
The outside looks good, but who cares if it is junk.
Suggested Improvements
Recall this vehicle and stop selling it until you get the
kinks worked out. Chrysler should cover loaners for service under
warranty without having to open a case with their customer care center
and have it elevated.
